McGruff Pays Visit to Laurel Park First Graders!

The first-grade classes at the Laurel Park Elementary School concluded the McGruff program on Wednesday, Dec. 14 with a special appearance by the crime-fighting dog mascot to the delight of the children. This program teaches students all about personal safety and bully prevention through recognizing behaviors that may lead to tough situations that need to be handled effectively.

Several officers from the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department came to Laurel Park over the course of the prior four consecutive weeks to teach the first-graders these life skills. At the end of the program, each student got a special certificate and a chance to meet McGruff the Crime Dog up close and personal. Each first-grade class also got to take a picture with McGruff and the officers who helped put on this wonderful program.
