On Jan. 23, the Laurel Park Elementary School gymnasium was filled with the sounds of the annual winter concert. The fourth-grade chorus and instrument club as well as the fifth-grade chorus and instrument club performed to the delight of their schoolmates who were in attendance for the early-morning show.
The fourth-grade instrument club performed several songs on the recorder including "Hot Cross Buns" and "Perry the Sheep," an ode to a sheep that "fell asleep, did a sheep sleep walk, and ate a recorder." The fourth-grade chorus then sang along to the tunes of "Clave Madness" and the Backyardigans' hit "We Are Castaways."
The show continued as the fifth-grade instrument club performed on ukulele, strumming and dancing to a version of "Ole!" Finally, the fifth-grade chorus sang a dramatic ode to duct tape before performing an a capella number with accompanying drumsticks.
